Equine Liberty Learning

What is Equine Liberty Learning?

As the name suggests, equine liberty learning is asking your horse to learn with you, whilst he is free to leave, both mentally and physically.
He really gets to choose whether he wants to train, and you get to learn how he would like to train!
You may think this is just not possible......
Why would your horse choose to come and train with you when he could be grazing or hanging out with his field mates?
The answer is simple:
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

Why would I need E.L.L?
Perhaps you are having problems schooling your horse? Does your horse not want to box or has an issue with the farrier or vet? Does your horse object to being ridden or worked and is really not that interested or attentive?
Does your horse have a bad habit that you have given up trying to solve? Is your horse sometimes spooky and unpredictable?
Are you struggling to handle a youngster and confused about how you should start training? Are you seeking a better relationship and wanting to understand what motivates your horse?
E.L.L. is the solution.

How does E.L.L. work?
Equine Liberty Learning incorporates clicker training, body awareness and herd dynamics. By understanding the reasoning behind these ideas based on studies and scientific papers, a logical outcome is achieved.

How long does it take?
This depends on the horse and it's present mental/physical state.  You should see remarkable changes in the first lesson in the way in which your horse responds to you.  Horses that have specific issues will need to learn first that E.L.L. is ONLY positive, before they are able to overcome their fear and enjoy and look forward to training sessions. This may take a few lessons but is the doorway to a happy horse and owner.

Can any horse do this?
Yes, no matter what age or breed the horse is, they can learn to LOVE training and actively seek you out and ask to learn new things. Before long, they will be OFFERING to show you what they have learned.

Can any owner/trainer do this?
Yes, no matter what age you are, if you are prepared to learn, your horse will too!

Is any pressure used?
Sometimes it is necessary to use pressure. Once you understand how your horse can be lead with body language and energy only, the pressure is extremely light and almost invisible. As the horse responds positively, he is rewarded positively. Unlike many other types of training, he is not rewarded only by the release of pressure; therefore he is more likely to repeat the wanted behaviour. There are no "phases" of pressure and unwanted behaviour is replaced by positive reinforcement of the correct behaviour.
